I was really hoping it would be about that time to pull out floral dresses and open toe heels but, alas, here I still am wearing a sweater and a coat. I think I wouldn't do well in a climate that is the same all year round, I live for that chance to mix it up! So, until the sun shines a little brighter.. I'm going to keep layering it up and incorporating small changes in my wardrobe until we can fully embrace Spring!

I had a bit of a shoe obsessed week. After FedEx loosing a package of beauties from Zara, I felt the need to get my shoe fix on and use my $10 off coupon from DSW that was burning a hole in my pocket. I ended up buying two pairs of black shoes that were essentially identical. I then realized I had made rash decisions, AND Zara was reimbursing me and sending another my way. I went to return my two new pairs, but of course still left with these (I couldn't put that coupon to waste!). They seem like the perfect staple black pair of flats with a little bit of air flow for the warmer months. The soft suede makes them comfortable and easy to wear. Aren't you glad I told you this entire story about my shoe obsession?! Whew. Anyway, loving this bright pop of an aztec inspired print for an easy spring/summer look.

I was weirdly excited about ordering new sneakers, feeling like a kid getting ready for back to school shopping. But come on... new kicks?! Nothing beats that feeling of tying up your crisp new laces. I'm pretty pumped about this new "trend" of sport inspired attire. Sneakers and elastic pants are about as far as I'll go (Which brings on an entire conversation after a sentence like that... WHOA the 90's are back!). I kept my outfit all black to add that pop on the bottom.

Hope you are all out enjoying the melting snow!! This last picture is ridiculous but I do look pretty dang happy about the melting mess and the fact that Spring is official next week!

OoooEEEee it was feeling good this weekend! Sunshine called for some bright colors and my new aviators! I try on aviators at lots of different stores, hoping I'll find that perfect pair and not have to splurge on a pair of Ray Bans. I think these are the ones... and for $7.95, you can't really beat it! A fresh pair of sunglasses and a bright new nail polish is just what I needed to welcome in this warmer weather.

 I don't really do posts on our home and lifestyle, and I'm not quite sure why not! Style isn't something that only should be shown through your clothing, and home decor is a great place to express your taste. It definitely can become a more expensive hobby than buying a new shirt, but then again, all is fine in moderation. I really enjoy the little details that can really make a house a home. We have a lot of pieces that have sentimental value or are found at estate sales. I find a good mix of old and new to be important to making your space your own.

I took this pictures for my good friend, Lauren, to be featured in LPF Magazine discussing combining feminine and masculine taste in home decor. Things have changed in our place since these were taken, it should be an ever evolving experience in my opinion. We are going to start looking for a new apartment soon, I get antsy to mix it up a bit!

I was pretty seriously regretting my choice to start a fashion blog in the Midwest when we were shooting these pictures. It was SO cold this weekend and I was wearing what I thought would keep me comfortable enough, but I was seriously mistaken. I don't want to be that big complainer all the time, but I just wish I was sharing more smiles and less crossed arms in my photos! I'm trying to be all, "what's that over there?" so you don't see my fake painful smile and breath hovering in the frigid air. That's enough rambling though, thanks for listening. I just wanted to express my thanks for sticking with me through the outfit posts in these winter months!

*Also, this jacket. Yes, I have it in two colors. Ben got this navy colorway for me this Christmas (trying to distract me from the fact that he was about to propose.. it worked) and I love it just as much as the army green. Serious staple piece for your wardrobe.
