holiday shopping.

I have no idea how it happened that Christmas is around the corner. It has been unseasonably warm out so I'm holding out on extra layers where I can. Is everyone done with their Holiday shopping? Picking up anything extra for yourself? Retailers are counting on it :)

With the holidays around the corner, I definitely feel more inspired to wear sparkles and glam up my look a bit. I bought this shirt at J.Crew last year and have gotten a lot of wear out of it. I thought I would make it a bit more casual and work friendly by adding a button down underneath. I found this shirt at Nordstrom Rack this week (that tends to happen while shopping for others at the Holidays) and loved that it can be dressed up, yet is as comfy as a sweatshirt. I think longer skirts like this look best paired with heels so your legs do not shorten up too much.

As winter months strike, I tend to wear a lot of boots. Sometimes, I need to focus on making sure I wear something different some days just to switch it up! I thought I could start doing a little segment on a week in my shoes (yes, I realize that is only 6 days in the photo). The days fly by and I need to take a minute to appreciate it all. I added some similar shoes below to inspire some looks this week. I cannot stop looking at rainboots! That must mean I'm getting older, practical is key.

Although I'm resisting wearing jackets a bit, I'm definitely leaning towards more moody, dark colors as well as lots of sweaters. I scored this factory sweater for only $49! I love the mix of materials to make it feel a little more upscale. I also couldn't resist these Renvy for Gilt boots from Thyme is Honey's boot guide this year. You'll be seeing me in these a lot. I have been wearing these Pixie pants from Old Navy a lot as well, my only complaint is they seem to attract lint. Other than that, a great value buy!

I can never get enough coats and cold weather accessories when the weather is starting to turn. The fall is lasting beautifully long this year, so that means you shouldn't be stocking up on some cozy goodies for all parts of the year. There are endless possibilities for coats and hats this season, here are some of my favorite silhouettes right now.

The duty of every Midwest human is to embrace fall with a trip to an apple orchard. It's just necessary, folks. How can you turn down some delicious apples, cider, and probably donuts and caramel?! You can't. And you won't even be judged for taking some adarlable (word cred: Kori Wahman) photos. It always takes me just a minute to figure out the temperature and if I should be bundling in a coat or trying to wear skirts as long as possible. I tried this look for a classic, can't go wrong, fall ensemble. Jeans, stripes, boots, vest.
