I'm getting pretty excited for the Fourth of July! A weekend home in Minneapolis with friends, family, and sunshine is just what I need. It always is one of my favorite times of the year, and I can't wait to celebrate. Trying to take a less obvious spin on the red, white, and blue.. but still keeping it festive with this gingham suit from Anthropologie (on sale!) and this red Herschel backpack to pack all your goodies for the day.

I think it's becoming clear that I am loving neon this summer. I think the easiest way to try this trend is with accessories. I got these shoes from the Prabal Gurung line at Target this Spring and I keep looking for excuses to wear them. I played matchy matchy today and paired them with these earrings from H&M. If you go for matching accessories, try not to go over the top.. subtle is key!

I realized something. After going back over old posts, I see I might have been tricking you. Apparently I like to look serious in pictures so that you don't notice me as much... but I look mad! Reality of life is much more like below, let's be serious. Talking, not sitting still, being distracted by something in the sky.. The usual. Anyway, sorry if I fooled ya. I have been trying to find the perfect boyfriend jeans and seem to be having a hard time! They are the perfect thing to give your outfit that comfy/ cool look. I'm also a big fan of monograms as well and adding some personalization to your look. I think I might have to purchase these Zara jeans and see what I think! Stay tuned :)

This weekend we browsed the farmer's market in downtown Madison to get some fresh goodies. I wanted to be comfortable in the warm weather so I threw on this light tank and paired it with my army green joes jeans. This Lands' End Canvas bag is the perfect size to stash anything I pick up throughout the day. I'm such a happy camper now that I have some new herbs for my little deck garden!! Summer awaits!

Last night, we celebrated a friends' birthday and I didn't want to wear a fancy dress, but still wanted to feel like I wasn't wearing something I can also wear to work. This tank top is cool and easy to wear- it allows you to play up your accessories. I kept it pretty simple but added some of my favorite staples.. gold jewelry &spike earrings, Jeffery Campbell wedges, and a pop of color with my purse. Keeping a good balance with your outfit is important.. Don't overdo it (and have fun!)!

Would you look at that! I'm a giant. Putting my hair in my I'm-lazy-but-am-still-classy bun and wearing my highest wedges makes me so tall I make people uncomfortable. Oh well. These shoes were a steal and actually so comfortable- they have turned into my go-to for lazy mornings when I still want to look put together (same with the hair.. lazy seems to be the trend today).

Anyways... I'm rambling. These pants! I keep buying patterned pants when I probably should be buying jeans.. But that's not as fun, right? You have to be careful to keep the rest of your outfit pretty simple if you go with a print like these. Nudes and whites freshens it up a bit! Oh, and a cateye frame seems to fit well with the high waist.

I was not thinking very clearly when packing for this trip and decided to ignore the "it might be cold" directions from the group. Luckily, I brought my new J.Crew jacket for the trip. Pretty much wore this bad boy every day so far! Very happy with that purchase. Trying to spice it up a bit with my "world champ" belt (as Ben calls it).

Guys. I'm in Nantucket. It's pretty much a magical and beautiful place where every house has cedar shakes and a view of the ocean. Safe to say I'd be okay summering here (yes, then I would say things like "I summer in Nantucket" and it would be acceptable). Enjoying my morning exploring the property we are staying at this week with the wedding party. I found the big hat necessary today.
